To put himself through school, Larry Madeksho, like many friends he grew up with, worked in the insulation trade during the 1960s at chemical plants and refineries in the Gulf Coast region.
After he graduated from law school, he began representing his friends who were becoming sick with asbestos-related diseases. He fought some of the biggest companies in the U.S. — and won.
Few lawyers in the country, if any, specialized in asbestos litigation as long as Larry did. He handled cases on behalf of asbestos-related mesothelioma and lung cancer victims for over 44 years. He was a leader in recognizing wrongdoing by prominent insurers and initiating class-action lawsuits against them. He fought so hard for his clients that his colleagues called him “Mad Dog.”
“How many funerals of these victims have these insurers ever been to?” he told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune in 2003. “How many wives have they had to comfort?”
Among his many victories, Larry was Settlement Counsel in settlements with Travelers Insurance Company that totaled over half a billion dollars.
The victims he represented are the same people he raised his children around.
Growing up with the families of asbestos workers, Angela and Chris Madeksho built lasting friendships and gained a deep understanding of the hardships and realities that these workers and their loved ones face.
Taking up their father’s fight, they are now the managing partners in the firm that Larry founded. Out of offices in Houston and Los Angeles, the Madekshos and their legal team continue to earn settlements for victims of asbestos, mesothelioma and toxic exposures.
Angela is the daughter of the firm’s founder, Larry Madeksho. Carrying on her family’s legacy, she manages Madeksho Law’s Houston office and has over 20 years experience in asbestos litigation. But beyond her experience, Angela also has a special understanding of the people she serves. She grew up around families of asbestos workers, and she is a cancer survivor herself.
Before obtaining her law license, Angela was Larry’s paralegal, working up client cases and investigating possible asbestos exposures. She helped research insurance companies’ deception in poisoning asbestos victims. This eventually resulted in a nearly half-billion-dollar settlement on behalf of the victims.
Angela is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and Texas Southern University School of Law. When she isn’t working with clients, Angela devotes herself to family and to advocating for animals. She founded the rescue group ADORE Houston, addressing Houston’s homeless animal crisis. Madeksho Law generously supports ADORE’s work to help get stray and abandoned dogs off the streets, out of shelters and into loving homes. She also provides peace of mind to cancer victims in their final days by working to re-home their beloved pets.
Chris is the son of the firm’s founder, Larry Madeksho. He manages the firm’s California office in the Los Angeles area.
Like his father, Chris’s passion is fighting for the rights of victims of corporate negligence and abuse. He is a graduate of the University of Texas and started doing human rights work while studying at American University Law School. He did pro bono human rights work in Costa Rica with Casa Alianza and CEJIL Centroamerica, focusing on international child trafficking cases. Chris speaks fluent Spanish and French.
Chris is a recognized expert on benzene and is the co-chairman of the Benzene Litigation Group with The American Association for Justice. He is licensed to practice law in six states – Texas, California, Pennsylvania, Washington, Missouri and Oregon, and he has a national reputation for managing asbestos and other toxic torts. He represents mesothelioma and toxic injury clients nationwide.
Chris is a graduate of the nationally-renowned Trial Lawyers College, and he has received the Super Lawyers designation for 2022 – 2024. He was selected for this honor after an evaluation of many different factors including peer recognition and professional achievement. Super Lawyers is a Thomson Reuters honor that is awarded to no more than 5% of lawyers in each state.
In addition to trying cases for victims of cancer and toxic torts, Chris routinely tries cases pro bono for low-income families facing eviction in the Los Angeles area. He even participated as trial counsel and adviser to tenants in the largest rent strike in Los Angeles County history. Helping his community is a passion for Chris.
Outside of work, you’ll find Chris spending time with his family — they especially enjoy gardening, exploring the outdoors, making music, and enjoying good food together.
Angela and Chris are backed by a legal support staff that includes claims processors, paralegals, office managers and office assistants. Everyone on our team is relationship-focused, so that our clients always feel secure and comfortable.
