Larry Madeksho
Lawrence Madeksho ("Larry") is a former asbestos worker in the insulation trade during the 1960s at chemical plants and refineries in the Gulf Coast region who understands the hardships and realities of those he represents. After graduating from the University of Texas and then the University of Houston Law School in the early 1970s, Larry undertook to represent his friends who were falling sick with asbestos-related and other industrial diseases, taking on some of the biggest companies in the U.S.—and winning. Because he represented his friends regarding work conditions familiar to him, Larry took his work very personally and continued the fights, some of which continue today.
Few lawyers in the country, if any, have specialized in asbestos litigation as long as Larry. He has been handling cases on behalf of asbestos-related mesothelioma and lung cancer victims for over 35 years. Larry still litigates and tries cases on behalf of his clients today. He has received numerous verdicts and settlements in excess of a million dollars and has been featured in the news all over the country for his efforts. He was recently Settlement Counsel in settlements with Travelers Insurance Company that totaled over half a billion dollars.
Larry is licensed to practice in the Supreme Court of the United States of America, United States Courts of Appeal for the Fifth Circuit, United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Supreme Court of the State of Texas and all other courts of Texas. He has also been admitted to practice in other courts throughout the United States.
Chris Madeksho
Chris Madeksho is Larry’s son and a graduate of the University of Texas and American University Law School where he focused on international human rights law. Chris speaks fluent Spanish and French and has worked for human rights organizations Casa Alianza and CEJIL in San Jose, Costa Rica. He has spoken at conferences in Chicago and Fort Lauderdale concerning asbestos litigation and the role of insurance companies in the asbestos disaster.
Chris specializes in mesothelioma, acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) and lung cancer cases. Low levels of exposure to asbestos over short periods of time have been known to cause both lung cancer and mesothelioma. Chris conducts meticulous hands-on investigations to explore all potential exposure scenarios. However, asbestos is the only established cause of mesothelioma in the United States and Chris is respected for his extensive and exhausting research in determining client’s occupational and non-occupational exposure to asbestos. Chris recently was able to bring a mesothelioma victim’s case to trial and recover numerous large settlements for confidential amounts while the client was still able to see his and his family's recovery.
Likewise, Chris also works on the acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) cases in the firm. Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) is closely related to benzene exposure and development of this illness requires a thorough investigation to determine whether it may have been caused by exposure to benzene or benzene-contaminated derivatives.
